ANDY WARHOLD: A LIFE ON THE EDGE chronicles the artist’s life from his early roots in Depression-era Pittsburgh through his stunning success and celebrity in the center of the New York art scene to his untimely death in 1987. His art images are some of the most famous of all time: glamorous images of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, and penetrating explorations of the American underbelly with paintings like "Race Riot" and "Suicide." His films explored everything from the nightlife of a building (eight hours of the Empire State Building) to sex and drugs in Chelsea Girls and Heat. His was a life of raging contradictions, ambition and daring. Exact details of his death at 58 from a routine gall bladder surgery remain a mystery.
